I thought 1958 was the first year of the Jazzmaster in fact I thought it was released after debut in the 58 spring show. :shock:

Yes, it was. I got one from a family member as a Fender prototype. They did indeed not make them until 1958. You are correct.

I no there is one of the prototype Jazzmaster's at the Smiithsonian Museum you must have a treasure there $$$$$$$$

Yes, I do. I'm guessing it's worth quite a bit. :lol: It was handed down to me from my grandfather many years ago before he passed away (he's still rockin' up there!). Music runs in the family... 8) I will never sell it or get rid of it, because it is history in my hands... :wink: :D It's blue/green with a cool fretboard color. It looks so classy! 8) :D

Hi. New to the site. I have an old Jazzmaster. Had it since I was a teenager. Bought it second-hand. Rumors are it is anywhere from a 1959 to 1961. How do I find out the age and value?

Check for a neck date on that old Jazzmaster.

Look for the date codes on the pots too.

That should get you the date.
