I thought i would introduce myself. My name is Joe. I've been playing since I was 6. I am not any better than when I was a kid :) I am getting back into playing after a long layoff (10+ years).

I pulled out my guitars (see my list in my sig):
- The Strat still plays fine. No issues, just needed new strings.
- The Mustang plays OK, the neck needs straightening, the slide switches need cleaning but still function.
- Ovation, just new strings and faster action.
- The Bradley LPC... will likely be a project.

My question concerns the Mustang. The slide switches were replaced with new Fender slide switches years ago. What would you use to clean them?

Also, I replaced some of the wires with silicon coated wires because of corrosion. Is that an issue I shoulld be concerned with and replace them with cloth covered?

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Use CRC spay to clean switches. The wire should be stranded tinned copper its ready for solder it can have a plastic coating or a teflon. The teflon will not melt any when you solder you should be ok with either on switch.
