Saw a Fender Toronado today and I want it. It's the GT version from 2005, green w/ the racing stripe. It looked great, felt great, low action, needed some strings. I'm thinking of trading in my 1994 Tele and see what they'll give me for it.

Any thoughts on Toronados?

first off, what kind of tele is it? second toronados are great if you have some money to fix the cheap parts they use to make em... i needed new machine heads after a couple years, the wiring was aweful and needed to be replaced with a couple pots, also there was grounding issues with mine... but yeah theyre awesome!!! (mine was first run) why not try trading something else than the tele?????

sorry if it sounded negative, i really love my toronado it just took a little more money to get it there.

the guitars below are in "favourites" order

It's a standard MIM Tele, sunburst, recently setup, but I don't play it. I play my Squier and an old Univox more. I'm gonna keep thinking about it. Just hope it's still at the store by the time I decide!

I just bought an early model Toronado (2002), and I agree totally with ROBT's post above. I LOVE the guitar... in fact, I haven't touched my strat since I bought it. (Guess I should play her for a bit tonight)

The Toronado sounds and looks fantastic to me, but I was SHOCKED by the shoddy wiring work. For now, I'm perfectly happy playing her as-is... but I know I'm going to have to do some serious rewiring soon. I'll post some "before" pictures on this thread tonight to show you what I mean. I don't know if things had gotten better for the second generation GTs... I sure hope so.

With all that said, I would gladly have paid the $600 - $750 that these guitars cost new. I am thrilled with how it plays and how it sounds. (Sorta Gibson LPish)
