Hey,

Looking for some help I got a Fender HM Strat, my mate got it from new when i was about 15 (21 years ago!!) & i bought it of him about 5 years later, going by the Serial number i belive it to be a 1987, but i may be wrong lol i also belive it was made in Japan.

The funky A-Z pick guard was custom built & added by myself.

I been trying to do some research it to them & the only pictures I can find is of the HM strat with 1 x Humbucker & 2x single coils.

As you can see from mine it only has 1 x Humbucker fitted. why??

Does anyone have any other infomation on these guitars.

I'm not certain why yours has only one pickup, but I can tell you from the serial # your guitar is a 1988 model.
I vaguely remember Fender trying a few different styles with these guitars before they discontinued them. They were not hugely popular, probably because of the 25" scale length. but they are sturdy guitars, and they do stay in tune quite well, which makes them very good performing guitars.

The funny thing to me is...I can't recall ever seeing a HM Strat with a pickguard, no matter what the pickup configuration was.

Yes, I got that the first time around, but did it already have a pickguard on it or was this just something you simply wanted to accent it with?
