Hey everybody... A few years back, I bought what appears to be a 1964 Fender Jazzmaster from my grandpa for $350. This was the same price he paid for it at a pawn shop in the late 70s. When I looked up the serial number, it shows it's a 1964 but I'm told the serial number is not an accurate way to date the instrument. Is there any other way to get a date without having to take the neck off?

Thanks!

You can check the date codes on the back of the pots.

You can compare features with info found at
