Hi all,
I got a new Acoustasonic and a Fishman Loudbox Performer a little less than 2 months ago. Love them both and they sound great together.

Last night I plugged in and got a horrendous squeal. Not a feedback squeal, but a single tone that didn't respond to switch position or guitar volume. It got quieter when I lowered the amp volume, but didn't quit.

I muted the channel, switched cables, messed with settings. It was still there. I switched guitars and it was fine.

1. What caused it?
2. Did it do any damage to either the amp or the guitar?

I'll share my suspect, but don't want to give a misdirection: could I have had the phantom power on, and would that have been the issue? If this is correct, what about #2. above?

Thanks all!

I'm no electronics wizard, and I dont know the Loudbox, but to get the topic rolling:

Checking the manual, the phantom power has an XLR connector. So, if your guitar was plugged in by a regular guitar cable, I can't see how that could connect to the 24 volts.

Since the guitar is new(ish), have it checked by the shop you bought it from - or an authorized Fender repair shop. You're still covered by the warranty, and these Acoustasonics seem to have some electrical problems a bit more frequently than the average.

Thanks Rockstar. You’re right. Phantom power was a red herring. I was only using 1/4” cables. Not the problem.

I can’t get duplicate the problem. Both seem to be acting normally now.

Stay tuned. If it happens again I’ll pay better attention to all settings and Exact cables.

It seems no damage was done to either device.

The Rock Star is just a status given automatically by the forum - for hanging 'round way too long and posting way too many times. IRL, I'm a rock star only after a couple of uisge beatha's, but then the nice gentlemen in their white coats take my guitar away.

Anyways, nice to hear your system is OK.
Taking a wild guess, did you use a different cable when the squeal appeared? I'm thinking, it could have been a broken one.
