I have a gold Fender Squire Classic Vibe 60th anniversary model but the ser.no.cgs1414031 is 'not recognised' on the Data Project site. Have I got a genuine 'classic vibe' ?

I don't know which "Data Project site" you used, but I fed your serial number on the https://www.fender.com/product-registra ... ial-search page, and it comes up as "Squier® 60th Anniversary Classic Vibe '50s Stratocaster®"

Note that the serial is with capital CGS, and without any spaces (in-between or in the end).

So, IMHO and as far as trusting serial numbers goes, it's fine.
What made you suspicious, is there something in the guitar that doesn't match with what it should be?

Thank you Rock Star. You're absolutely correct. My fault with the info input. Now I'm relieved. Thanks
