I just picked up a modern player starcaster off of craiglist. I’m curious what year it is. I think they were only reissued from 13-18. Sweetwater confirmed they’ve been discontinued. Anywho, I can’t seem to find anything online about Chinese-made Starcasters and how to read their serial numbers. Any insight is appreciated.

If the serial number is CGF and then digits, it's C for China, G for Grand Reward factory, F for Fender; then the first two numbers should tell the build year.

Many(/most?) Modern Player series instruments are in the Fender database, so maybe try there:
