I ventured into one of the local Fender dealers today and saw the Classic Player Jazzmaster. I just had to give it a test drive.

I see that the trem plate has been moved forward with a screw-in trem arm and the "improved" neck heel felt really good while playing. 8)

If anyone has one of these, i'm looking to get one, how do they work out for like jazzy blues?

I played one in a shop and it felt good, but I couldn't give it a proper test drive because of the salesman standing over me not letting me put the amp past 2 (it was some annoying Frontman thing)

Anyone got one?

I don't have one, but I was very impressed with the new pups in this CP Jazzmaster, along with the other updates. I played it for about 1/2 hour through a SCXD and I thought that it had a very wide range of tonal sounds. It seemed that you could dial in a "jazzy blues" tone by rolling off the tone a bit. You should try to get out and play one in a different location.

Also, the SCXD is a great sounding little amp and seemed well matched for this guitar.

I haven't given it a ride yet, but I want to hit the local GC soon. I have a CIJ Q-Series that is a bit brighter than the American RI, but if the new Jazzer were closer in tone to the reissue I'd consider adding it to the herd. And I wish it had a wider choice of finishes, too!

Hello Miami Mike,

I played one briefly at the
guitar superstore,
I couldn't get the hang of all
the controls.

I'm sure I'll play one again
with more time on my hands.

Darn nice looking axe.

Cheers.

I am waiting for one to be available near me to try out. I was looking for a Jazzmaster a few years back but I couldn't afford the price tag. I almost ended up with the Ibanez equivalent, the Jet King. Just and awful guitar. I'm glad that they have an affordable Jazzmaster model out. Can't wait to give it a test-a-roo.

I own one of these, its a good guitar. The pickups are hot so if you like hot pickups you'll definately love it. It has good feel and playability, I myself am not sure yet if i want to switch out the pickups for vintage ones. I been just messing around with the guitar seeing the tones I can get out of it, I really haven't made a decision yet about the pickups. But its a good guitar I recommend it
