I'm new to the site, so please forgive me if this is an old or popular question. I just traded for a very nice 2015 Fender Modern Player Telecaster Plus, but it looks like it has had some modifications. The stock uncovered bridge humbucker now has what looks like a SD Hot Rails in it. It has a 5-way Oak-Grigsby type switch in it and the mini-toggle switch now acts as a kill switch instead of a coil tap for the bridge. Can anyone help me figure out if this is some sort of popular mod and if so, what the pickup configuration is for each position? Thanks!

Welcome to the forum.

You have a modified Telecaster with 5 positions pickups switch and a toggle switch ans you want to know what are the pickups combination ?

With the guitar you can easy tell by yourself, more then us.

Pickups combination ; use a screw driver ('cause steel ) and tap lightly on the pickups. You'll hear a "tumb "in the amp if pickups is/ are in use.

Ya, at the very least, we're going to need some very detailed pictures of the wiring to even begin to guess what was done.

My guess:
1 - Bridge Humbucker
2 - Split Bridge (single coil)
3 - Bridge Humbucker + Neck Humbucker
4 - Split Neck (single coil)
5 - Neck Humbucker

But that is just a guess...
I really wouldn't wire it that way
I would wire it with a 3-way switch:

1 - Bridge Humbucker
2 - Bridge Humbucker + Neck Humbucker
3 - Neck Humbucker
Toggle or S1 switch - Coil split both pickups

That's how *I* would wire it, since it would provide the options of a Les Paul and traditional Tele except for the volume/tone controls (and the fact that a split humbucker does *not* sound like a Fender single coil.
