Hi all,
Just ordered a classic 60s Jaguar in fiesta red lacquer. I've had to order a seperate gig bag for the guitar, as the seller says the guitar doesn't come with a case or gig bag. I've checked the Fender product page and it reads that the guitar comes with a case.
Has the case been discontinued? If so then why no bag? It seems pretty stingy that I've just paid £899 in the UK to have nothing to put the guitar into.

Hi fendereedo, if you bought it new from an authorized Fender dealer, you should be getting a hardshell case with the guitar. Point them to the Fender product page and tell them you expect the case or no deal. You can buy that guitar from any authorized Fender dealer, so why give your hard earned money to someone who is trying to rip you off?

Edit - Thomann sells it with a case. https://www.thomann.de/gb/fender_clsc_60s_jaguar_laq_pf_frd.htm

Yep... that extra $200 over the Special pays for the case. Unless this guy is selling it to you for 25% off, buy from a different dealer.
List price (including the case) is $1024 or about #780 (I understand that your cost will be higher with the Queen's share)
The Special is $800 with a gig bag... #610

Ok, so I bought blind on the internet. She arrived today with the case, so all is good. Jag nicely set up. I'll try and get some pics up later.

That's great, I'm glad it worked out and looking forward to the pictures.

That's good to hear.
The dealer was likely confused. Most of the MIM series do not come with bags or cases... it's not until you start getting into the $800+ range that you even get a bag. I was surprised to see this one included a case.
My American Special only came with a bag, at about the same price as your Jag.

Hi Rich, I agree totally. It does seem a little odd that the AM specials and higher up such as the road worn series only get gig bags. I think the surf green lacquered Jazzy also has a case too.

Well, in fairness, list price on yours is the same as mine, but yours is MIM w/case and mine is MIA w/bag.
Mine was about $400 less than an MIA "Standard" which comes with a hard case, tilt neck, 2-point bridge pivot, and some case candy... So really, given the $800 MIM model comes with a bag, and the case is around $150 for the ABS and $220 for Tolex with orange interior, it's really a comparable price point.
