Hi All

I am a complete beginner and just bought a fender ESC105 educational guitar. I find that every single day at least one of the strings is out of tune and i have to tune it every day

I have left the guitar lying down, and also standing up but its out of tune every day

Is this a fault in the guitar ?

It is an "educational" model, built and sold in the low price class, so the parts used are chosen by economic principles.
That said, most of 'going out of tune' issues are related to something else than the parts of an instrument.

A new guitar may still be adjusting to the new environment (humidity & such), and that should settle in a couple weeks time.
But one of the most common causes is how the strings are attached to the tuning machines and the saddle.
And the guitar may have been "in transit" for a long time, so the strings may be old - try a set of new, quality strings.

If you're sure none of the above is the cause, check that the truss rod gives the neck enough support so the neck shape doesn't change (although that usually is not a problem with nylon string guitars).

hehe, welcome to "musiciandom"...

tips:

make sure the machine heads are strung correctly with no string overlaps (nice "serpent coil").

bend all new strings like a maniac (but don't break them), i.e 1-6 bend 3rd, 5th 7th 12th etc frets repeatedly so they will "settle tension" (having been stretched out), then re-tune, repeat until stable.

also when tuning always start lower and increase tension until you are intune, then STOP (so the gears in the machineheads are "tight") (i.e. if you tune too high (past note frequency), then you have to loosen and go up to the note again, not backwards).

...then if you are still unhappy buy some locking tuners / upgrade guitar.

----------------------

humidity and temperature play big factors on wood, also various mechanics, different string gauges (tensions) contracting and expanding.

you know how "rock and roll stars" employ people to hand them their tuned guitars etc while gigging.... thats how you know you have made it - having a servant to tune your guitar for you.

Hi,
Thanks for joining the guitar world. I would suggest going to YouTube and search guitar set ups and guitar going out of tune.

Good Luck
