I just inherited a 1951 Fender Custom triple 8 lap steel. I removed the tuning pan and was happy to see the TG initials. I know there is definitely the "cool" factor there but does it make this type of guitar any more valuable?

In general, I'd say no. But the clientele is in any case limited, so you just need to find the persons who can appreciate the TG initials with their wallets.

Checked reverb.com; these have been sold for around 1000$.

Thank you for the reply. I ended up selling the lap steel and got $1,600 for it. :)
