That first video makes ocean turquoise look way too dark-blue. Also I don't like the neck binding, but I guess it's good to have the option for people who like a hard sharp edge on the fingerboard.

Neck binding is a feature introduced in the middle of 1965.

The following year the two offsets had given rectangular blocks and three years later an optional maple-cap fretboard with black tuxedo stylings was offered.

I Play an American Vintage JM (65) and I am unsure why they moved to the American Original series. Still trying to figure that out. The stuff they were making for the American Vintage series was so great. They really could have just jumped from year to year to change it up a little and people would have probably been happy but combining the years into decade specific models seems a little odd.

But to each their own...

American Originals are not really "original".

Many of their features - such as the 9.5" fretboard radius and 5-way switching - deal with modern playability in mind. Another marketing strategy from Fender to make profit and sell gear.
