I just bought what was professed as a used (2012) Johnny Marr Signature Series Fender Jaguar from 30th Street Guitard in NYC.

The headstock is serialed as a MIA but does not have Johnny's signature on it. It does have stamp marks on the neck (where it would sit in the neck cavity of the body). These stamps say Johnny Marr, the date (a specific date in 2012) and some guys name.

I understand the guy's name is the one who made the neck and the date is the date the neck was completed etc.

My obvious concern is that the neck lacks thw Johnny Marr signiture on the headstock (yet, has the rubber stamp of Johnny Marr on it).

I am wondering if I bought a "fake" signiture series or if this problem (lack of signiture decal) was normal enough during 2012.

Has anyone heard of this before or have I just bern riped off?

If you don't want to post pics so the forum could try to help 8) run the serial number through this: https://www.fender.com/product-registra ... ial-search
Or email Fender with the serial number, they should be able to reply with original specs belonging to a guitar built with that serial. https://support.fender.com/hc/en-us/art ... -Relations

BTW, you can delete the double posting as long as there are no answers in the second post.

Thanks for the thorough answer!!

I have now run the serial number and it is the correct number for a Johnny Marr.

I have since learned that the signature itself is a transparent sticket (not a water slide decal) on the headstock. Some people removed their stickers. It appears as though that is what happened to mine. There is a faint tracing of the sticker on the headstock.

Now I am wondering if there is a way for me to get a new signature sticker? I have asked Fender but I have not gotten a reply yet.
