Hi, I'm looking for some more information about the Jazzmaster American Special pickups .. I've read that they are actually humbuckers in standard jazzmaster housing.. made by fender? Not sure about the output of these things or the mags that might be used or anything... I'm actually wondering if its just in fact a myth!??

Sorry, blundered a first version of my answer by misreading your question... Here's a second try:

It's not a myth. "Dual Jazzmaster special humbucking pickups deliver monster tone" says the 2014 Frontline.
The part numbers (7701585000 bridge, 7701584000 neck) bring up only the service diagram, but that doesn't help much. Apparently never sold separately.

There's a sales ad which gives an idea of those pups' (stacked & AlNiCo..?) construction: reverb.com JM AmSpec Pickups

The AmSpecJM was a very short lived experiment, so not very much info is available. But for an instrument from that near in the past, try emailing Fender if they can tell more; who made those pups, magnet types, what were the KΩ and Henry readings etc.
