Hi All

First time post and just wanted to hear peoples opinions on the Fender Cyclone HS?

From lookig at the specs everything about this guitar appeals to me however as theyre super rare where I am, its unlikely i'll be able to try one so would be buying blind.

I would have to sell my squier jm jazzmaster to fund it so I want to make sure i research before i pull the trigger.

Any opinions? What the feel like to play? How to tone sounds?

Compared to your Jazzmaster, a Cyclone is way different. If you have a chance to play a Mustang (or DuoSonic, MusicMaster) you get a hunch of what to expect.

In general, Cyclones were/are a sort of drop-in-the-middle model. There's a difference to Mustangs (etc.), but it wasn't big enough to keep the series rolling - maybe that 24.75" is too attached to that other brand guitars. Of course, this is just IMHO.

Ordering a guitar without a chance to play it is always a leap of faith, and return policies don't usually accept the I just don't like it clausule. If a Cyclone is a must-have for you, go for it. If you can consider alternatives, there are other short scale Fenders.

Sorry I can't help with the specs. But here's the Cyclone HS Parts+Diagram

I have a black 2000 Fender Cyclone with a rose tortoiseshell p/g. I bought it as a replacement of sorts for the Mustang I had in my youth. I took the leap and bought it used on eBay. The guitar is heavier than any of my Strats and maybe a little heavier than my MIJ Jazzmaster. As with many low-end HS models, the humbucker alone is noticeably louder than the single coil alone. Not a problem if you don't change pickups during a song. I had to tune it often, too.

It never replaced my Mustang and gets almost no playing time anymore. As a rule, I don't sell any gear I have (mostly due to the intense seller's remorse I suffered over that same Mustang), but I might consider it. Well, maybe not.
