Greetings all,

I have a 1966 Jazzmaster in 3-color sunburst and a red tortoiseshell pickguard. Long ago when I regularly played it with a "very high level of enthusiasm" let's say (surf band that played for free beer, go figure the rest), it developed a couple of cracks around the jack plug (from stepping on the #@%! cord when it's plugged in no doubt) and now there is a chunk missing that I haven't been able to locate. Although I hate to do anything that lessens the originality, it just doesn't feel right to let it stay like this, it looks ugly and uncared for, which is not the case at all. And to be honest I am not looking to ever sell it, as I have a strong attachment to it. Which is a long-winded way of saying I am too cheap to shell out a couple hundred bucks for an authentic period pickguard.

Any advice on what would be the most accurate modern (i.e. affordable) replacement P/N in terms of original fit and color? I notice the color on the original is kind of an orangy-red color due to the high amount of yellow swirly-blob-tortoise bits. Not really a deep red nor is it "brown".

Thoughts appreciated, thanks!
