I have a Fender lap steel that my grandma bought for me at a music store in Fullerton, CA. in 1954. I played it for many, many years before putting it away in the closet - mainly to learn and play rock n' roll and the blues. I am curious about it's value or worth on the open market. It is all original, including the tweed case and chrome legs that screw into the bottom. The serial number is 04176. I would be willing to part with my old friend but only for a fair price.I would like to know a way to get it appraised and to confirm the serial number. Thanx!

'Seen a couple at shows in metro Chicago, a six string goes over $500 and a couple well over $1000.

You can check George Gruhn's site for cpomparable stuff.
