I have seen mods which place multiple caps on a selector switch allowing different caps to be placed in tone circuit. Before I even attempt can anyone think of a definitive reason a variable capacitor would not work in this scenario? It's my novice son's guitar so "not as good as a single wired cap" would not be a showstopper! I was looking at something like:

Arco Variable Tuning Capacitor 3055pF – 1400pF Ceramic Housing MPN 315

Guitar tone capacitor are most of the time 0.05 mfd
0.05 mfd = 500,000pf

Your tuning capacitor values are 0.003 to 0.0014 mfd very far to work well as tone.

Yeah I thought maybe I could put the variable in series with a .022u cap but now seeing that the values of variable caps (at least those that would fit inside guitar) are not high enough in value. It was just a thought but I see now why no one has attempted
