Does anyone know anything about this guitar? I hear it is supposed to be released July of this year, and should cost around $1100.

Should be a sweet Jazzmaster, purple sparkle paint with matching headstock, jumbo frets, o-matic style bridge. I can't wait!

Hopefully some info becomes available soon.

I heard that it's gonna be Japanese (Fender Japan). I'm looking forward to the Gold Guards too. Purple sparkle too :D

It looks pretty wild. I think Thurston Moore should be the next person to have a signature fender guitar. J was a good choice. He's one of the greats.

I hope its not Japanese, if so I'm changing the pickups. I think they're American. J told me at a show recently that theres 1 guy making them and he can crank out like 30 a month. So this would lead me to believe they will be made in America and some what limited.

No choice, purple sparkle is J's favorite color.

Great, huh? :D

I also found this:

"To honor J’s musical contribution, satiate the fans that have been asking for years, and give a ‘modern rock makeover’ to a popular guitar...Introducing the Artist Series Fender J. Mascis Jazzmaster® “A unique and modern take on the classic Jazzmaster from one of its most well known-players.” From Dinosaur Jr. to the Fog, J Mascis and his energetic lead guitar style took the Jazzmaster to a new place and introduced the guitar to a new generation. In addition to its stunning looks, this guitar has many player-centric modifications as requested by J. What makes it special? Purple sparkle paint with matching headcap, ‘o-matic’ style bridge, anodized pickguard, reinforced tremolo arm housing for improved fit, jumbo frets and a satin finished neck."

Yeah all that info is on Dinosaur Jr's forum. I started that thread too. I was just trying to find out additional information because Fender is being mum with the details.
