Hi all, I'm new to the forum.
Recently a friend of mine left me in the custody of an old Mustang. The serial number suggests it was made in '65. The guitar has been re-finished black at some point and cosmetically has seen better days though there is no issues with it's playability and it stays in tune well.
I'm not a fan of shorter scale necks, I was wondering if this thing is worth selling or is it not worth the trouble?
Thanks for checking my post!

Never trust a serial number alone.
On the authenticity (Made in U.S.A. Fender Mustang from 1965 or not) of this guitar, I'd say nothing based on those two pics alone.

Plus there have been other mods. The bridge pickup is some version of a "Rails", and, going just on memory here, I'd recall white pickups were combined with tortoise pickguards...

Left in your custody, you're thinking of selling it..?
Anyways, vintage Mustangs have sold for way over 1000$ when in very good & excellent condition.
This guitar: not original, condition might be player grade and maybe fair - the price drops significantly.

Thanks, J.
Yeah the pickup is an old SD Hot rails pickup. It has the original case, grey/black with orange felt...with the "vintage stench" to go with it. The original grey bottom bridge pick up is in there too.
