I posted this in the Lounge, but I'll ask it here,

Is the new Jazzmaster special guitar a new series like the mexican strat or is it a limited edition thing? What I mean is that is it a limited time thing? Like one year and then they're gone?

If they are like a limited time only I might go and pick myself up one. I liked it when I tried it out. It was very nice.

Any thing would help!!!

Please and thanks!!!! :D

Not a foolish question! If one were to be able to successfully second guess the marketing strategies of the company then I would recommend betting on the Powerball Lottery because you'd be a sure winner.
In terms of specs I would want to know where the guitar is being built. Also the same for the current 'tweaks' they are marketing in Jazzmaster and Jaguar upgrades. Check the specs, compare and contrast, find a dealer who has one to audition, and follow your preferences. If your really like an instrument, what matter the ultimate fate of the line>

Doc

There were new MIM Jazzmaster and Jaguars recently at the local GC / SA in metro Chicago.

Both were really nice instruments, especially at about 35-40% the cost of a 'real' one.

They are standard production models. They are not a limited run series as far as I know.

The pickups are a little different. (hotter) and the tailpiece is closer to the bridge (i think)

There seems to be more demand for the Jazzer these days. Fender is offering two signature JMs and I think the new lower priced Classic Player model fills a need. I like most of the modifications they've made (I can't believe it took them 50 yrs to fix the bridge) and I would have liked a flatter neck radius and more colors.

I don't think even Fender knows how long they will offer it for, but I'm sure they'll make it as long as it sells.

Just build one yourself. That's what I'm doing and the cost is about 900$. Not expensive if you compare it to a US Jazzmaster. I'll put some pictures when it will be finished

www.warmoth.com

By the way, is there anybody here who can told me if I can put p-90s on my jazzmaster? Is it possible?

Building my own guitar is something I always wanted to do, but I've been out of wood shop for a few decades now. Also, in my current situation it's not the money, it's the time (or lack of) and I'd want to do it right.
