Hi

Does this look authentic to you? It's supposedly an 09/10 custom shop but the decal looks a bit odd to me... The guitar comes with a certificate where the serial number matches the neck plate number.

Thanks
ER.

What gives me pause is how poorly the headstock decal has been applied. That "silvering" of the clear carrier film is the result of air bubbles trapped beneath the image -- Fender is generally more careful about blotting the decal down until the water is fully purged and evaporated.

As for the image itself, it is period-correct for a Jazzmaster. However I'm not aware that Fender was including patent numbers on a re-issue instrument's decal. As well, the "Custom Offset Body" logo that is commonly seen on the "ball" of the headstock seems to be AWOL.

Custom Shop COL's are easy to counterfeit -- I could format and print a certificate up in mere moments.

Arjay

I don't think anyone can be very certain on that one pic alone. More pics, some background info, what part of the world etc.

The "09/10"; do you mean it's #9 of the Wildwood series..?
Anyways, I'd think that ain't no "closet classic", but "relic" or "heavy relic" are possible  (I've seen even worse sticker peel-offs on a '61 heavy relic...)

You might try if the forum's Custom shop section has better knowledge. Or contact consumerrelations@fender.com for more info.

I don't think it's real... I'm not an expert... at all but, that decal looks cheap and it's applied so poorly, i think you got ripped off my friend.
