Looks like I missed my chance on that awesome-looking green Johnny Marr signature Jag - the Fender website only seems to have them in KO Metallic and Olympic White, neither of which looks nearly as good (to me). Same with the big retailers. A couple of Denmark Street shops in London had them a year or so ago, should have grabbed it but was still trying to decide if I liked the playability of the Jag.

So why would Fender dump that color option? It had to be more popular than the ugly KO orange thing, especially with Johnny using it in his Easy Money video a year or so ago.. A really unique look. Why tease us like this, do Fender discontinue certain colors for any reason, or is it only because they don't sell?

Bummer - looks like I'll have to wait for one to come up for sale on the secondary market.

Color at Fender comes and go all the time.

Somebody on the forum ask why not many black Strats, same answer

I'm pretty sure the Sherwood Green was specified as a limited run color - so they only made a specific number of them (maybe 500?) and then the run was over.

Update - the Sherwood Green model seems to be back up on the Fender website. Any idea why - has it been re-issued? I tried to click on the dealer link, but that just brings up every place that stocks Fenders, not necessarily this model. That's not helpful, I'm not going to call 1000 stores.

A general Google search for this model still brings up no results. Tried emailing Fender, will see if I get a reply. But if anyone has any idea if this color has been released again, and where, that would be appreciated. I'd like another bite at that apple! :D

Many of the larger retailers (Sweetwater, Music Zoo, Sam Ash, etc) sell on Ebay -- you might cruise through the listings there.

Where are you located and when did you see the Sherwood back on Fender's website? I'm in the USA, and as of 9:15 am Central Daylight Time the only colors for the Johnny Marr Jag on the Fender website are Olympic White, Metallic KO, and the recently released limited edition black.

If you're inside the USA then it was probably a glitch on the website - for example, 2 weeks ago Jade Pearl, Mystic Blue and Mystic Red had mysteriously shown up as available colors for the American Standard Tele even though those had all been discontinued years ago. If you're outside the USA maybe the distributor in your area found a few in their warehouse or commissioned a second FSR run. As I say the USA website now only has the Oly white, Metallic KO and black listed.

Maybe another hilarious inside joke by Fender Marketing Department...
Out of curiosity I checked; the Sherwood Green is displayed here (Scandinavia) and also in many other European pages - e.g. http://intl.fender.com/en-FR/series/art ... -metallic/

Edit: Seems that in many aspects there is something is rotten in the pages of Fender... This page up > Products > Parts leads to Flea bass page. Trying to get in there via my bookmarks results in "NO IMAGE AVAILABLE" for e.g. pickups, then a 404 error on their details.
Well, not so long ago Brad promised we'd be surprised by the future developments on the website...

Yes, you must be right about a website glitch. I accessed the Fender site from Singapore and it showed the Sherwood Green version. But when I searched Guitar Center, eBay, Google, etc., none of them had it. So it must be a phantom. Darn it! I really like that color.

And just to close the loop on this, I did receive a response to my email to Fender:

"You are correct, that finish was discontinued back in 2015. There was a glitch that happened while our website was updating that added a few discontinued products from our archive back up on the site. If you check now, it's off the site. Sorry for the confusion!"

Bummer, but at least that clears it up. Guess I have to wait until a current owner decides to sell one.

Shenanigans - the link for French page I posted above still gives the Sherwood Green Metallic option.
What's wrong with Fender customer service, on another topic they'd claimed there has never been red/white wired Tex-Mexes..?

Maybe there are still one or two in the French distributor's warehouse? Either that or they haven't gotten around to cleaning up the French website.

@John C

The USA site is inaccessible to customers outside America.

I know - it appears that Fender's site is set up so that "Fender.com" redirects you to your country's version of the website. That's why I couldn't see any of the green ones (since they are long sold to dealer here in the USA), etc.
