Was interested in buying one of these, but...for instance...MF says, "This item is unavailable."
Was this model pulled by y'all for some reason?
I had a "66 model back then and liked it.
I really liked the change to the p-90's instead of the stock single coils.
Please advise.

The model remains listed as "available" on Fender's product website......

http://www.fender.com/guitars/mustang/m ... 17&start=1

It's possible that MF just doesn't have any in stock at the moment.

The whole Modern Player series seems to have moved into the Special Edition page
And the MP Mustang seems to be "no longer available" on webstores.

You could try contacting Fender, if they'd know any dealers who still have one on shelf. Or try the second hand branch. Or DIY the P90 mod.
Edit: If your interest is on the P90 pickups side, another option is the Modern Player Telecaster® Thinline Deluxe - it seems to be still available in music stores, and is around the same price level.

On a general note, many "import" series Fenders seem to have a short life span.

Talked to fender customer service about this very matter.
This model has been discontinued.
But no explanation why it was still up on the website.

I've noticed that Fender keeps discontinued models up on their website until they no longer have any in their warehouses - one of which is a large warehouse here in the Kansas City suburbs that they share with Guitar Center/Musician's Friend.

I contacted them to see about replacement parts for this model. Since its Chinese made none of the other Mustang parts would fit correctly. Had to get a new Trem unit for it. They had a few in warehouse in California, but no guitars still for sale. Too bad it's a great model. Now just need to figure out how to keep that term in tune.
