I have a Fender Marauder (the Modern Player version, not the aborted '60s guitar) that was built in 2011. From what I gather, they were only built for a couple of years. I wish Fender kept production records because they couldn't have made very many of them. When they first came out I didn't really like the whole Modern Player series but I started seeing the Marauder in catalogs and I ended up falling in love with it. I went to a local guitar store and they had one in Lake Placid Blue and I played it several times and decided I wanted it. During this time I went to Guitar Center just to see if they had one and the manager said they weren't going to be getting any because they wouldn't sell. I ended up buying the blue Marauder for $336 (it was going for $399 on all of the online stores) and I also bought a case that fits it perfectly. I've only seen one other Marauder in a store and it was a black one priced at $399 in the independent store where I bought my Tele.

Everyone I've allowed to play this guitar absolutely loves it. They like it better than any of my other Fenders. It is a low priced guitar that can keep up with guitars hundreds or even thousands of dollars more expensive than it. The neck is nice and shiny but it isn't overly lacquered like the Squier CV guitars. The Jazzmaster pickup sounds thick and smooth. The triplebucker sounds like a shrill single coil, a normal humbucker, or a muddy, vague triplebucker sound.

Does anyone know when these were first produced and last produced? Was the guitar ordered in a certain number from the factory in a lot, and when these guitars were sold that was it? Was it to be a "limited edition" of sorts? If indeed one large lot was built and no more then we could possibly find out how many guitars were ordered. Some Fender dealers got one, I doubt if very many got two. The Marauder was on the Guitar Center website but was unavailable in my local store. I wouldn't think that more than a couple thousand escaped the factory at the most.

Here are some pics of mine.

The production years are 2011-2013, says the horse him/herself: Fender guitarchive Marauders

The Marauder wasn't a Limited Edition model, it was part of the Modern Player lineout.
Fender very seldom (only on some limited runs, CS models and such) gives info on how many guitars of a certain model they made.
But, you don't see many Marauders around, so some day these may become some sort of collectibles. I don't think they'll be gold mines, but it might be wise to keep it as original as possible.

This looks great. I have a Modern Player Jaguar and much like this one it very rarely comes up on eBay and seems to be good for the price tag :)
