Hi guys, was thinking of getting some help to resolve my dilemma now.

I've been eyeing to get a Jaguar for a while now, but due to where i reside i pretty much have to buy them online blindly.

I'm now pretty torn between a 50th Anniversary model, a 62 reissue, and a 65 reissue (i found gently used pieces going for around the same price).

I do understand the specification differences, from aesthetics neck dimensions to pickups to bridge positions.

However having played none of them, I haven't got a clue how to translate them into tangible ideas of which one I'd end up liking the most.

Was hoping to get some advice from veterans and experts here. Any help would be appreciated!

Cheers.

You chose to ask the impossible question for your first post - and really, I'm not trying to be sarcastic.

Nobody on the forum can tell what you'd like for breakfast tomorrow, or will you be happier with this girl than that - or which of those Jags you would enjoy the most.

So, some advice:
Jags are Jags, they all have a certain character and the differences are subtle between those three models you mentioned. The Anniversary has block inlays, they all have the trem lock button, all have typical Jag pickups. I just haven't any advice on which is "best", let alone "best for you".

Maybe try to have a little patience, and wait till you have the chance to take a trip to try the guitars - this is IMHO the best option. Borrow one for a weekend, if you have a friend/acquaintance that has a Jag. If you order online, shops have their return policies. And: only evaluate a guitar if it's been set up properly.

And, of course there are the simple ways: 1. choose the one that looks the best for you (color...) or 2. put pics on the wall and throw darts blindfolded.

BTW, if you desire a Jaguar, you can't go horribly wrong with any of those models. IMHO.

I will be using a mustang as an example in this post. The jaguar is a 24 scale... Same as a mustang. However the jaguar doesn't feel like a small guitar at all when compared to a mustang. It is quite big. It has a huge body. Weights slightly more than a standard strat and shares the same nut width. The American reissues are pretty good... I've played several... Having said that the Japanese reissues are really nice too. I personally would buy the MIJ jaguar for several reasons... More color options, cheaper, widely available. I think you'd be very satisfied with either. I have owned American, Mexican and Japanese jaguars and I was more impressed with the American quality but the Japanese jaguar is exceptionally great in build quality as well. I'd personally go for the MIJ jaguars that are out there... For the reasons listed above... I hope that helped... I've been playing jaguars for 20 years and know my stuff about that guitar. Let me know if you have anymore questions.

Thanks guys, the advice is much appreciated even though i know too that my questions were asking for a beating haha..

Well as far as aesthetics go my eyes are glued on the 50th Anni. model in LPB, it just screams "mojo" to me.

Why i went back to look at the AVs are because of what I've read about build quality, and I don't really want a jag that's so modern in specs that it doesn't quite sound like a jag anymore. It's price is also quite unbeatable considering it's selling for the same price as the anni. model while it had a much higher RRP.

On the flipside, the AVs have vintage frets (i believe the same goes for the japanese ones), which is something that i've been very wary of - i play with quite a bit of bending and i'm pretty accustomed to big frets on my strats and LP..

Sigh.. decisions, decisions, decisions..

I myself have never had a problem bending on a neck with a 7.25 radius and small frets
