Hi. I've had my squier tele for almost 4 years now. I've recently changed the pickups but I've been wanting to add a tremolo arm for a while now. I know the most common tremolo arm is a Bigsby. Is there a reason for this? Also does anyone know of any other cheaper options. I know that Fender once made tele deluxes with a strat style tremolo. Is it actually a good idea to put a tremolo system on a squier? Any help would be much appreciated! thanks

IMO it is not a good idea to put any money on mods for a Squier guitar .

You play (?) since 4 years , it is time to you to sell your Squier and buy a better guitar like a American Standard.

I sort of agree with st52 if you think about the financial side - at least, don't expect to get the costs of modding back when you sell the guitar.
But if your main motivation is the fun of modding and/or learning to work with guitars, go for it.

To answer your questions:
IMHO, the (relative) popularity of a Bigsby on Teles is because it's surface mounted (no routing) - and it is a quality product, so it holds tune.
Investing a 100£ (used) to 290£ trem on a 150£ guitar - you decide if it's worth it.

And, there is an alternative: try searching for a used Vintage Modified Cabronita Telecaster with Bigsby - you might find one for under 200£.

yeah. I wanna get it because I like the idea of modding my own guitars. I've done it before with pickups etc so it shouldn't be too hard of a job

The difficulty of a trem job is way beyond a pickup change.
And, regardless what you might read in an ad, the "drop-in" parts seldom are.
So: get the required knowledge and skills before you start.
I don't know your skill level, but for a beginner (at woodworking), even drilling a hole (straight and in an exact place) may be hard.
