Any thoughts on using a compression pedal between the Tele and the amp? in the effects loop? Should it be used at all? I kind of use it as a "Mini distortion" but how do other players use it?

Thoughts?

I used to use an MXR Dyna Comp with my Tele for awhile. The bridge pup is where this pedal shines. It didn't distort or alter the tone, just smooth compression, with a clean full undistorted sound.

You have to be careful with the settings of some of these units so as to not clip the attack.

I use compression most of the time with my single coils. I like how it balances everything out, especially when fingerpicking. Always in front of the amp and second in the chain behind the wah. I had a DynaComp a number of years ago until it died. I have an EHX Soul Preacher now that blows it away. It's got three attack speeds and it can get "some" gain. (Not sure on the decibel count, I'd have to look that up.) Cranking the output and squashing it quite a bit can dirty it up enough for a clean player such as myself.
