I bought this pickup from a gentleman online. He did not know what guitar it came from so he gave me a good price. It looks to be AVRI or Custom Shop but I am not sure which one. I know sometimes you can tell from the color of the coil. This one seems to be a purplish color. Can anybody help?

With that little info, I don't think anyone would risk to confirm that pickup's origins. Probably a Fender, but...

Sorry, I forgot to mention that it measured to roughly 7.5k on the meter.... I'm guessing it's a neck pickup.

It has a metal can attached - of course it's a neck pickup 8)

You can never be totally certain without certain ID marks via numbers or letters.

I have a set of Gibby 490R/498T pickups that I'm 85% sure they are what I think they are but because of absolutely nothing written on them but "Gibson" I can not rule out they are BurstBuckers or one other type.

If I had a guess I'd say there is the possibility that the pickup you have is off a Squire.
I can't say it is but it looks like it and has just two leads instead of the three leads of most aftermarket pups sold now. It certainly looks like a Squire pickup I have laying around. The guy selling it should know more than he's telling you. Caveat Emptor.

The cloth braid on the lead out wires sort of rules out a Squier pickup.
It looks like it could be a Fender 52 pickup http://www.angela.com/fender52televinta ... ickup.aspx or a Seymour Duncan or suchlike take on the same.
