I swapped out one of my tele's and put a Lollar in it. Gives a nice sound variance when compared to my other two Tele's. I listened to as many Fender humbuckers in tele's as I could find, but I like this Lollar better.

Went with Lollars in one of my Teles too. The gold isn't a very good match though. The black humbuckers that came with it looked better but these sure sound a lot better. Too bad they didn't come in black. Got a few of their bass pickups and a P90 too. All good.

Big difference in pickups - especially when comparing the humbuckers in the Thinline to the singlecoils in the other tele. The main difference you were likely hearing though is the difference between a solid body with tele style bridge and the Thinline's semi-hollow body with different bridge.

Tonewoods are also an important factor, just sayin'.

The main difference you were likely hearing is the difference between pickups.
The type of vibrating wood and the type of bridge does not affect the sound or tone of modern, non-microphonic, pickups and the tone of an amplified electric guitar.
Obviously, some folks disagree with that assessment, and there is no need for a debate on the subject, as we just went through that recently in another thread in this forum.
.....Just sayin'......

The only difference is...they rock!

A Telecaster with FAT pickups can go the full rounds with an LP anytime. Yeah give us more, luv em!

When I was in the market for a guitar with humbuckers, on the short list was an Epiphone SG G-400 and the Blacktop series Telecaster.

I choose the Telecaster because like the Stratocaster, Fender guitars are just balanced better and not at all neck heavy

I chose both. Or, rather, a Gibson SG, a Tele with wide range humbuckers, and a Tele Standard where I replaced the single-coils with N3 noiseless stacked humbuckers.

I still favor the SG a bit for some types of music, due to the more "old rock" sound of the 490R/490T humbuckers. But the N3s are killer for high treble solos.

If you like the LP sound, and think that clean humbucker sound "rocks" more than single coil pickups, I suggest that you add an 808 style pedal with the gain set low or off, as a boost, and you will find that single coil pickups, or noiseless stacked humbuckers, are equally capable of going "5 rounds in the cage" with a LP, with a more defined sound.

Arth1, I think we might actually agree on this one!! I love the old Samarium Cobalt Noiseless (SCN) Telecaster pickups.
