Does anybody know if Fender sold Fiesta red Telecaster if ordered so in 1977? I got it from the first owner who quit guitar playing because of his age. He bought it new in 1977 and ordered the guitar in this colour with the black pickguard, told me he never changed anything on this guitar.

There are standard colors in thoses years ; Candy Apple Red and Wine. *

1-Are you sure of the name of color ?
2- Are you sure about the year ?

* A.R. Duchossoir , The Fender Telecaster

Hello and thanks for the reply. I am not sure about the colour name. I am sure about the 1977. I would like to upload a photo but I do not know how to do that on this site The owner played in a shodows cover band.

I have pictures I can send through email

You did not finish the job :lol:

Look to me a new paint body . Not original . I may be wrong too.

I believe your right. It appears to be a heavy respray. Another clue is lack of any marks on a 38yr old guitar body, and worn hardware.

The hardware was very dirty, you can see that the pots have been used a lot, around the pickups there was a lot of dust and filth, there are dings and dongs in the body and there are scratches on the back and above the pickguard. I have cleaned the metal parts with cola to remove the rust. I think it is not Original but for the rest the guitar is Original which is fine. I will post some pic when it is finished. Thanks for thinking along.

You may be right for electronics , just too bad the paint is not original . But if you pay the right price ( ???? ) it is ok . I'm afraid you pay too much if the seller said it is original paint and you think same .

What kind of paint ? Many paint muff the tone

The guitar was cheap, otherwise I would not have bought it. I don't think the seller was lying by the way. I am thinking about having the red paint removed and make it a blonde telecaster, way nicer. After that the guitar is still cheap. Anyway, thanks for thinking along.

I would definitely remove the red paint from the neck pocket.

All my Fenders have some paint in the neck pocket, not sure if that's an issue.
