I had a great time at the New York City showing of, "Can't Stand Losing You: Surviving the Police" this past Friday night at the East Village Cinema.

Andy was very did a great Q&A after the movie and signed memorabilia. For my own experience, during the movie, I stepped outside the auditorium to see if Andy was going to do a signing--and there he was standing in front of me, outside waiting to do the Q&A. I asked about the signing and he kindly said, "Yes" and shook my hand.

He was courteous and answered everyone's questions. Afterwards, I was able to get my Telecaster's pickguard signed. Here's the link to my Facebook page to see a photo.

A tip of my hat to the East Village Cinema, my aunt, who helped me navigate and get to NY City, and Andy Summers for making my trip to New York a great experience.

The Movie: The movie is based heavy on the book, "One Train Later," which Andy uses as the basis for his narration. Like the book, the movie travels from the present to the past and back again, as his music plays and he narrates. It’s honest and unapologetic (as a side note, there is some nudity and strong language to be aware of before anyone brings any young children).

There is a lot of good footage and images that many people might not have viewed in the past. There’s a great scene in which Andy and Stewart Copeland are in the green room as Elvis Costello is interviewing Sting. We also learn more about his family and how his career has impacted them.

Though there was a bit left out, I felt that the movie covered the major events in Andy's life. The book, Andy talks about many of his guitars, how he got them and whatever happens to them. Though this is loss for us guitar nuts, I completely understand why these stories were left out.

OK Paris, now we need a picture of the signed pick guard on your Andy Summers Tele!!
Your lucky.
Some guys will refuse to sign a pick guard, and will only sign the body of a guitar.

Will do. I've having trouble with photo bucket lately. Any idea what I use to protect it from being worn away?

I have never had a problem with Photobucket.
My pictures are always there and show up on sites unless deleted from Photobucket.
As you know, you post the "IMG" link.

If you can't get in by changing your password, I guess you will have to create a new account....???

Paris,

It's great when you meet your heroes and they turn out to be straight down the line guys with no airs and graces.
Andy Summers is a phenomenal musician, and he has written some very individual and iconic music.
I hope he does something nearer to home sometime soon, as it can't be more than 40 miles from where I live to where he lays his hat.

I notice from your Facebook page that you mention Rob Chapman.
I had the pleasure of seeing his band Dorje in Manchester this Sunday just gone - they rocked!!!
The venue was a place called Sound Control, and I remember it being a late incarnation of A1 Music in Manchester http://www.manchesterbeat.com/shops/music/a1/a1.php

Chapman seems pretty cool. I watch Anderton's Music guitar videos.

Andy lives a lot farther than you know. He lives in California at the moment.

I'd love to visit the UK. I have friends there and hope to visit them in the near future.

Spray Clear Poly.

Did that, about 4 cans. A lot of sanding and buffing.
