For several years I have wanted a Tele Thin line. I don't know why?
Any way, I started looking on ebay, craigslist, guitar forum's ect. and not finding any thing worth buying, or paying way to much. So
I ended up buying a 80-90% new body, and then pre fit everything and then took it to my little brother to paint, I told him to scuff it and spray it, Ha Ha, he spent more time on it than most guys do painting a whole car! It is awesome, and just like me I forgot to buy the string ferrules, will it kill it's sound?
Thanks
Greg

Sound may be good IMO but guitar won't stay in tune , wood too soft and after few (?) months strings will pass throught the body ...

Put some strings ferrules ASA

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I will try to post some pic's. 80-90 percent, Is a new body that I bought off of Ebay. It is a no brand named thin line body that needs fit and finished. If my little brother would of done what I told him to I would have this guitar playing, but O No, he had to make it look totally AWESOME, so I can't put the neck I have, so now I got to find some money and buy a nice neck.
thanks for the replies.

I can appreciate the urge to forgo waiting for ferrules but I think the tone will suffer and it will definitely affect the tuning stability. The one thing I can tell you is that once start playing it you will find it hard to take it apart to finish it.

Is 80-90% new like almost being a virgin?

Not to mention that trying to change strings once they are imbedded inside the body will prove to be fun..

Do it right, take it apart, use templates to route out the neck pocket correctly. Find a wood shop and have them drill the six ferrule holes you need. It will take them less than 10 minutes.
BTW... trying to drill them with a hand drill instead of a drill press which is deep enough to accommodate the body will result in the string holes and ferrules to not be perpendicular...

But without pics... YMMV

A makeshift workaround is a small coin with a hole. Some are small enough that they won't cover the string next to them:

They're also useful if you do have ferrules, but get a string with a missing ball. Pass the string through the coin, then through its loop and then through the guitar.
