Just to verify - you do have the typical Fender sealed tuners, like most MIMs, American Standards, American Specials, Highway 1s, etc. don't you?

If so, then about the only black tuners I can think of are the Fender-style made by Schaller. Evidently these were out of production for a few years, but they are now back - if you can find them. Here's a link:

The only problem is that I have yet to find these at Stewart MacDonald or any of the usual USA suppliers. It's hard to find anything but old-stock brushed chrome Fender/Schallers. Allparts has the standard-style Schallers in black, but they wouldn't be drop-in; you would have to drill a couple of holes for each tuner on the headstock.

You caught me mid-edit - I found the standard-style Schallers in black - but you would have to drill holes for the retaining screws to use them. I assume you're really looking for drop-in tuners.

You might have to contact Schaller directly, or try to import them directly from an overseas source.

No, those should be the drop-in ones - that's just a different photo from the same Schaller site; evidently they are making the Fender-style tuner in 7-8 colors. But I can't find them at any parts supplier here in the USA; I can only find old brushed chrome Fender/Schallers or the current Fender Deluxe tuners in chrome.

I have found the other styles of Schallers black, but they are the kind where you have to have a retaining screw instead of having "guide pins" in the body of the tuner - like this:

http://www.allparts.com/TK-0974-003-Sch ... _3761.html

As I say you wouldn't have to enlarge the tuner hole, but you would have to drill a hole for the retaining screws.

The Fender Deluxe are made to the same specs in terms of the body of the tuner; they are just sourced from Ping instead of Schaller.
