well, I don't own either one but I have played both because I am interested in another tele, the finish on the 52 neck is just to thick and heavy for me, it is very sticky. I prefered the neck finish on the 62, although I do prefer the maple neck and the 62 only comes with a rosewood fret board-oh, the 62 body is also different. So, with that said, play both. Good Luck. 8)

My preference would be a '52. Course I would not kick a '62 to the curb.

I own a '52 reissue MIJ tele W/Bigsby. It has an ash body and maple neck and fretboard. I don't have any problems with the neck finish being "sticky". It's smooth as glass. Of course I never put it away without wiping the whole guitar with a soft cloth. And a little guitar polish every once in a while works wonders for the finish. I don't know about the '62, but the '52 has a 7.25 inch radius. My advice would be to play these guitars, if possible, and choose the one that talks to you.

I've been playin Tele's for 40 years. Choice of a particular guitar is a personal matter. You should play each guitar and decide for your self. The 52 and the 62 have different characteristics. I have a 62 Tele RI....I love the neck and the body style, especially the double binding and rosewood neck. I do not like the sonic characteristics of the neck pickup. I have recently modified my 62 with Joe Barden Tele pickups and the mother screams with happiness now when I play it!

I own a Fender '67 American Standard: a 90's edition Korean made Fender Squire Pro Tone Thinline Tele with an excellent neck - always stays in tune & moded with Joe Barden pickups: a Deluxe Nashville Tele which is very cool with 3 Tex-Mex pickups - 2 Tele and 1 Strat, 5 way switing, gets great tones!

Get 'em both. Why stress yourself out over such a silly question. I have a '52 reissue, it sings! I love it!

Well since the last time I posted on this subject I did'nt have a 52 RI, but since then I bought a new one. I played both the 52 RI and the 62 RI, the biggest difference in my opinion is the neck, for me, the neck on the 62 is too thin, the neck on the 52 is thicker. I prefer the larger neck. I am totally satisfied with my 52 RI. I think they both are awesome and you can't go wrong buying either. But if you can, play both.

good luck , keep us posted.

HI,
I have over 20 TELE"S all VINTAGE and all original and a few players....
in that group is a 52-re-issue....if my choice were between the TWO you mentioned I would have to say go with the 52.

But if I had a choice of TELES to get I would have to say either a 72 DELUXE (w/2 humbuckers) or a CUSTOM the KEITH RICHARDS TELE with one HUM and one Single coil.

Both these are very versatile but of course the CUSTOM is more versatile with it's one single coil and one humbucker,.

Lot's of guys steer away from the 72 DELUXE RE-issue's cause those re-issued HUMBUCKERS made by SETH LOVER sounds NOTHING like the real thing..well that has all come to a huge change those pups are now available and sound VERY MUCH like the originals.

I'll find the link and let ya know but they are known as WIDE RANGE HUMBUCKERS

A friend bought a set and put em in his and it SOUNDS ((% like my ORIGINAL...the big difference I think is mine has a one piece solid HARD ASH body and the re-issues have SWAMP ASH and three piece bodies.

IMHO the tone of a TELE was in it's ONE PIECE BODY back in the day.

If you;'re intrested one of my TELES is available at a local dealer for 850.00 it was a 1200.00 CUSTOM SHOP SOLID ASH NATURAL with BARE KNUCKLE PUPS in it.,4 way switch and bumble bee caps in it....
READY TO GO with custom LEOPARD SKIN PICKGUARD and in MIT condition!!!

Just wanted to give ya that option as it is a perfect ax with a ton of upgrades.
Just one thing if ya get a 52 re-issue DO NOT get the one with the MINI HUMBUCKER in the neck..NO 52 re-issue had that and it doesn;t sound as good as the stock pups......that;s TRUE TELE TONJE !!!!

Hope that help ya
