Hello,

I'm new here, so let me know if I'm doing something wrong. I purchased a American Vintage '52 Telecaster in the local shop last year. I want to buy an acoustic, so I put it for sale. One person asked me for the year it was made. It seems it has no serial number... how can I know the year?

Did you look at the bridge, under the "Patent pending" text?

To date the guitar, you have to check the neck pocket & neck end.

Agreed - also, if it is from the current series that came out in August 2012 the first two digits of the serial number should match up with the year. On the new series they started using "V12xxxxxx" numbers, and changed to "V13xxxxxx" numbers some time in 2013, etc.

I have a American 52 reissue ( American Vintage Series ) bought new in 2004 the only serial number we can see from outside is the fake vintage number on bridge , Nothing on neck plate .
I never remove the neck

On the new AV '52s it is still on the bridge plate even though they use that new format. Fender just started that new system when the new series came out. On the old AVRI series all the other models (besides the AVRI '52 Tele) did have the serial number on the neck plate that started with a "V" but they used numbers that didn't have the year coded into them.

You're welcome. It got a bit confusing with Fender changing the serial number format after 30 years of doing it the old way.

If you didn't know the year of the guitar and it was a pre-2012 model change, with the serial number on the bridge, not starting with a "V" followed by the year, you can always call Fender Customer Service who should be able to tell you not only the year that the guitar was made, but also the month it was made, as well as which Fender Dealer originally received the guitar.
That way you don't have to remove the neck, and you should be able to obtain more information.

American Vintage ´52 Telecaster: 1992-model

How is the neck-radius on early 90´s AV 52?
I´m considering buying one.

This makes me sad. Keep that sucker! You can always buy an acoustic later...

Hi, I have a 1989 , 52 Telecaster Reissue. The neck has a R/W in a circle on the inside of the neck with Hector Montes name. It is a maple neck so what does the R/W stand for? Also the paper on it has in #1. ABoon and
#2. ANA does anyone know who they were?

Thanks
