When I recently bought my 2008 std. MIM Tele it had 9's on it...too thin for me, a longtime fingerstyle player using 12's & 13's on my Martins.
10's were better, but D'Addario Chrome jazz light flatwound 11's feel best and sound great in all 3 pickup positions. It's funny because flatwounds sounded muted to me on the 4 hollow body archtops I owned for a while...all are gone now. This Tele is the only electric I need!
Any others using flatwounds?

Will be interesting to see what people say. Last year I bought a used Duo Sonic that had flat wounds. I liked them so much they're still on. Will have to try them on my Tele.

I have been using D'Addario half rounds on my Tele, which works great for my style of music. I use D'Addario flat wounds on Gibson Midtown for a jazz sound. I really like the tone of both the flat and 1/2 wound strings.
