My American Special Tele is the absolute best playing, best sounding guitar I've ever owned. :D :D

I've been looking at the American Special really hard and watching as many videos as I can find, really wanting to try one first but nobody in town has one. I'd love to hear some more opinions.
Thanks, Harry

I have a 2011 Amer. Stand. Sounds great and has 22 frets, which is my preference. Out of 4 guitars, it is the one I play all the time.

My 2000 AD is the best Tele I have ever owned. Others came and went before I got it and they have come and gone since but I never seem to want to sell this one.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Can you try some other model ? American Standard ( my favorite ) and other ?

Why don't you buy second hand , one you can try ?
1- You seethe feeling
2- You 'll hear the tone.
3- Save money

I'm lucky to own a Classic Player Baya,
It's a great guitar. My first Tele, I'm more a Strat guy, perhaps I was......
When I compare it to my MIJ 1987 Strat or my 2012 American Standard Strat with fat 50 pickup, I cannot find any flaw except for the slight noise of the pickups. It's anyway only noticeable with high gains.
Overall it's a very solid guitar, resonant, the chunk neck shape is to die for (at least to me), the pu sounds good in all 3 std position, the fourth position with pu in series is nice for solo work because it gives you more output volume in addition to the thicker sound. I play it with 0.11 and it's easier and smoother than my strats with 0.10!
Bought used some months ago with a rigid case for a good price, I couldn't be happier about it.
There's a fairly recent review in YouTube comparing a Baja, a reissue 52 and an original 1952 Tele, I suggest you to have a look at it!
Cheers

I wound up getting the American Special (in Vintage Blonde) back in October and love it!
Wanted to try the Baja at the time, but couldn't find it in any of the guitar stores I visited, including among others GC and Sam Ash. Was quite tempted by the MIM FSR Tele at GC, but elected to go with the American made one. From what I've seen here on the board about the Baja I imagine either one will make you happy :-)

Baja Tele have a soft V neck , not a C shape , 9.5 radius ?
American Special , 9.5 radius , jumbo frets ,neck shape , C ?

52 Tele reissue or original old one have small vintage frets , with 7,25 radius .

Completely different beast .

I'll never buy a guitar I can't try

Thanks for all the comments, just as soon as I can I'll go try some Tele's. I have two Strat's so one is going to be replaced by a Tele.

Yes,
Baja has soft V and 9.5 inches radius.
The feeling compared to an 2013 American standard Tele is definitely a chunkier neck.

Perhaps not good for everyone but to me it is really nice and comfortable!

After trying out the American Special, Classic Player Baja, and the Standard Telecasters, I have decided to buy the Classic Player Baja Telecaster. I have based my decision on the multiplicity of tones and overall playability of this model. Although I was impressed with the other models, especially the American Specials neck and pickups. maybe I can add that one later. Thanks for all of the info.
