Waylon Jennings is a brilliant man and what a nice looking Tele® he has there too. Enjoy this nice video of one of my favorite songs.

Waylon Jennings - Mental Revenge - 1966

p.s. Love the pine tree in the background :D

Buddy taught Waylon to play guitar! Waylon also played bass for Buddy during Buddy's last tour. Waylon was gonna fly with Buddy but gave his seat up. Everyone knows the rest of the story.

 just one correction...Buddy put the bass in Waylon's hand for the first time but he did not teach him to play guitar. Waylon's distinctive hybrid picking that he was known for was well into development by the time he hopped on board for the Winter Party Tour with Buddy and the crew. Let's just say I spent a bit of time with Waymore...he WAS an incredible guy and that reissue has always looked interesting to me as well.

and while we're at it...I personally like this clip a lot too!!!!

I liked Waylon's songs and that black/white leather Tele was a stunner. I think that Shooter Jennings has a copy of his Dad's famous Tele ?

Yes shooter indeed does have a copy of his Dad's famous tele. The only difference is that it has his name inscribed in the leather. He also has a copy that has the famous flying W just behind the bridge...however, I'm not sure if they are older teles (Waylon's preference was for the '53's but owned a few 'standby's that were early '70's models) or if they are newer. hmmm...have to check that out...

VERY cool clip! I also liked the "Me & Bobby McGee" clip with Moon on the steel.

They never replaced him. I think of Wayon Jennings the same way I think of the hills where I grew up, because I can't think about my life without thinking of them.

My all-time hero and one of the most influential country musicians ever, Waylon Jennings is a self taught guitar player. His guitar is as iconic as Johnny Cash's black clothes.

Waylon's original 1963 Tele has 5 Kluson tuners, a double-bound full painted body and a vintage 3-saddle bridge.

The Tribute version uses those infamous 1980s "Elite" tuners with the pearloid buttons and an unbound body. It also sports an American Tele bridge with solid stainless steel block saddles and a flying W inlay on the 12th fret.
