WHY did I wait 25 years to get a Telecaster!? Been playing Strats my whole life and today I got myself a tele and boy...I freaking LOVE it. I think it's the best guitar I have ever played, even better than my Gibson Junior and all of my strats. I can't believe how good the stock pickup sounds too! Didn't expect it to sound so fat and hot! Stock pickups on strats are really thin and country sounding, no good for heavy rock at all imo. I got the tele expecting to having to change pickup like I always do with my strats but it was awesome right out of the box.

Will say a Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound sound fatter in a Tele than a Strat? I almost suspect that the way the tele is shaped and designed it is by nature fatter sounding in character. True or false?

I'm your exact opposite, in fact I just sent back a Nashville Tele cause I didn't like the Tex-Mex pickups. Too hot, I guess I'm just weird. Much prefer the mid-2000s era Standard USA Strat pickups over the Tex-Mex on my Strat partcasters.

So, just curious, had you ever tried a set of Tex-Mex pickups on your Strats? If not I have two sets I don't need. . .

Congrats on your new Tele! Wish I were happier with the one I tried. . .

Maybe we're into totally different genres. I play punk (obviously) and rock and stock pickups on a Strat are way too thin and honkytonky sounding. I always modify them with humbuckers. The Tele on the other hand...the bridge pickup on that one is more within the ballpark of a P90. Amazing stuff. Didn't expect that at all. Heard some say they sound thing and so on, but thin is the last thing it is!

Tex-Mex pickups really aint my thing, but thank you anyways mate :)

Something about a tele. I recall some post from years ago (stop me if you've heard this): "A strat is like some elegant homecoming queen. but a tele is like some hot little number you want in the backseat of your 55 Chevy."
I've got one of those Modern Player Thinline Deluxe things (with P-90s). Made in China, neck not perfect, noisy as hell, perhaps cheapest git with Fender name on it, but just love it. Plus it is light....

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.
