I've got a reissue, 72' thinline. I want to replace it with a new modern neck(9.5) radius.
So I go online, fender.com, guitar necks, there it is, list $199. Bop on down to my local fender shop, tell him what I want to do....and he tells me fender no longer sells necks, that I've stumbled on a phony website, and if fender did sell necks they would cost over $500....ok, bad dream? Somebody wake me up...

You need to go to another guitar shop.

If you don't like the neck , you are better to sell your guitar and buy what you need .

They do sell replacement necks, however, none that is a good match for the Thinline '72 RI.
You can get a 9.5 radius, but you'll then lose the vintage frets and get fat ones instead, and you won't get the bullet truss rod adjustment which is iconic for this guitar.
