Here is my baby...

I changed out the N3's with a set of Bareknuckle Pickups blackguard series (flat 52 in the neck and a flat 50s in the bridge).

It sounds fantastic now!

Once the pickup swap was done the S1 switch has been removed as I've noticed the presence of a plain metal knob in the master volume pot. Perhaps it's an illusion. If it's not, then let me know.

Enjoy your gutsy twangbangin' machine, old chap! :P

Thanks chromeface

Actually it is just an illusion. I had planned on using the existing S1 switch with the new pickups (Bareknuckle recommended the four way mod). But when it came to it I decided that I should just have the "normal" three positions.

I really should have pulled out the S1 switch/pot but money was tight at the time (I had my epiphone casino in too getting some re-wired pickups in from bareknuckle at the same time - I couldn't swing it with my wife!).

I did think about maybe buying some 52 re-issue knobs as replacements but I figured I'll do the whole lot down the line. It just means the switch is redundant and a tad ugly to look at.

The guitar sounds so alive now and how I imagined it should sound. With the modern features (Neck, locking tuners etc) it plays so easily but I know that modern is not everyone's cup of tea but it is truly a great guitar now - for me anyway!!!

From my understanding Bareknuckle recommended using the S1 switch with a 4-way pickup selector but you finally opted to not turn your guitar into an American Deluxe Baja Tele and stay with the stock 3-way switch.

You axe still has the modern features but sounds and plays better like an authentic butterscotch blackguard '52 should do! :P

Thats right chrome face! Bareknuckle recommended the fourway switch but it was adding up to too much money...

The bridge pup really growls and sounds great.

One day I'll replace the pot and volume tone knobs.

I really love the guitar but would love a vintage spec one...Have to sweettalk my wife.

Here's one I built using the Fender replacement parts that Fender was selling about 10 years ago. They were nitro. The electronics are Fender Nocaster.

Can't get my computer to cooperate with Photobucket but can see one of my tele's on the builder's website. Mine is the second from the end - the Relic Master with gold Lollartron humbuckers. Site is LynnEllsworth.com. Also have a matching Tele-Bass he made me. Same Tele body, maple neck with Tele headstock, all black hardware with Fender N3's.

Yep. I dragged out a few Teles today, they all sounded great, even the MIM one. The funny thing about the MIM one is that I put Nocaster pups in it and they did not sound right. So, I put the cheap plastic bobbin pups back in and it sounds great. I don't get it. So, I guess I'll have to build another Tele so I can use the Nocaster pups and the extra neck I have lying around. After that I need to post a family picture.
