I'm considering purchasing a guitar from a seller on craigslist and I want to know if the guitar is legitimate. He's asking $400 for the guitar and a hard shell case. The guitar is White with the speckled red and black pickguard. The Serial number seems legitimate and it dates the guitar to about 2000-2001. It has 3 pickups and everything seems totally legitimate but the metal plate on the backside of the body doesn't seem to have fender engraved into it. I want to make sure that the guitar is 100% legitimate.

I just looked at several older Deluxe Nashville Mexican Telecasters on eBay and none of them had an engraved neck plate.

Thank you very much, so you're saying it's legit then? Do you think the price is right or is he asking too much?

Without pics, I have no idea. I'm more of a strat guy anyway. . .

Look around eBay and compare the pics to the one you have in mind. I've been looking at Nashville teles for about a month now and it seems that $400 with case is a fair price

It sounds legit to me - if you don't snag it, PM me the link.

I have a '99 Nashville Telecaster Deluxe, they were all MIM.

They were all Arctic White w/ a Tortoise Pickguard. No neckplate engraving, SN on reverse Headstock.

cheers!

Can I ask if your neck really is 43mm and if it's any thicker than a Strat neck? In spite of the factory specs, I'm still skeptical that Fender MIM necks aren't all 42mm.

I have my eye on an eBay one and being a Strat guy wonder about those 2 and 4 positions. Do they sound comparable to a Strat 2 & 4?

Thx!

Thanks mp

I did get the eBay tele and so far so good. To my surprise the neck is a 42.8mm width and I was very impressed with the fret ends being finished well and the slight rolling of the fretboard edges. Wish the neck was thicker, had heard that Tele necks were, but not this model I suppose. Mine is candy apple red which I really like, and I suspect a replacement pickguard which is white, instead of toitoise (?)

The 2 -4 positions are nice and stat like, love the neck and the medium jumbo frets. I just have to sell myself on the Tex-Mex pickups which are a tad hotter than the lower output Strat pickups I like.

It's a keeper, just a little more time to bond and hear what tones I can get out of it.

42.8mm = 43mm.

The Deluxe Nashville came in several finishes, though the bulk were Arctic White or Brown Sunburst.

If you have a CAR, it's a rarity... but not to the point of significantly raising it's value.

The available colors were:
PN#
0053140506 Black
0053141532 Brown Sunburst
0053140509 Candy Apple Red
0053140580 Arctic White

cheers!
