Hello my name is Mark, I have an '06 American Standard Telecaster and was wondering about changing the bridge plate and saddles to a Vintage style 3 barrel brass saddle type. My question is.. does anyone know if is as simple as just switching the 2 plates ? Do the older styles fit properly on an American Standard body? I assume that it will fit, but just to be sure, I thought I should ask...Thanks for any imput.

well if your going for the barrels i suggest checking out:
http://www.callahamguitars.com/

They have fixed the intonation problem with their adjustable barrels.

Also vintage bridge use 4 screws
Your modern bridge probebly has only 3.
Easy, fill the holes with any hard wood and wood glue, dry, then drill.

good luck.

As he said before, the screw holes don't line up. Also, I'm not sure if the sting holes will match up. best thing to do is do some serious investigation before you buy the new bridge. I did a tele project and ended up having to change it since the AM DLX body i bought didn't fit the vintage bridge I bought. Just make sure the string holes and pickup cavity will line up. Otherwise you may have to do some routing for the pup as well. As far as saddles, check out Compensated saddles. I personally like glendale saddle and the intonation has worked pretty well for me.

+1!
Yea he's right didn't think about the string holes.
I personally had a hell of a time installing my bridge and had to re-route and fill/drill also.
If you do need to re-route grab yourself tele templates from www.stewmac.com
Their cheap and they work really nice.
Obviously it's going to be a bit of work!
