I was doing a quick search for any discussion on this but was unable to find any. Does anyone know if the Shiflett Tele has a tone that is similar to a standard tele? I am guessing that it is different because of the fact that it has humbuckers instead of single coils. But any opinions are welcome

Completely off topic, I know but the guitar in question reminds me of an old joke.
Q: What's the difference between humour and odour?
A: Humour is a shift of wit.

And now, after the shiny wit...

Yes, the humbuckers makes it sound different. Darker and hotter. You also have to pick much closer to the bridge (like between the bridge pickup and bridge) to get any twang out of it.
One plus is that it's much easier to get a fuzz/octaver to track on a humbucker neck pickup.

Odd.
I've never noticed a tendency for octave or harmony generators to track better with buckers.
The next time I'm fooling around with one I will pay closer attention to that.

One of the things that intrigues me about that Telecaster is that it's essentially a copy of a partscaster that was made of Warmoth parts..

Kind of like the AFD Gibson Les Paul endorsed by slash.. An expensive reissue copy of a bootleg.. :)

In most of the reviews of the Shiflett Tele they do say that if you are looking for that classic Tele tone, try elsewhere.

The shiflett Tele is darker, even darker sounding than the 72 Tele Deluxe reissues.
