Hi, I've looked around the web hard, and still can't make up my mind. I'm looking for a guitar of my own now, and I've tried a few guitars in the past. I've really decided on that telecaster sound. Problem is that I'm kind of on a budget and not sure which one too chose. Either one of the squire models or the mexican one. If I get the mexican one I'll be waiting a few months before I can buy it(or take a loan), but I just wanted to know whether you guys think it's worth it to wait for the mexican or just go with the squire if I just want the sound. (I'll probably be using Native's Instruments guitar rig for my effects most of the time.) I would just practice on a friends electric guitar in the meantime, but I lost one finger recently on my left hand and I can't afford the prosthetic. So to make do, I'm switching to a lefty model. And I don't really have a guitar to practice on in the meantime.

Which Squier ?

Squier Classic Vibes are very good guitar for the price , Mexican are better ,,,,,sky is the limit in guitar quality.

Waiting few months for a Mexican one or buying now a Squier Classic Vibes ? If you are a serious player in the futur neither one will be your last guitar .

Buy that Classic Vibe and put more money on the amp . It is the amp make the guitar sound good.

Thanks for the advice. Yeah, probably won't be my last guitar, but definitely will be using it for years to come. And it'll be a long time before I can ever get my hands on an American Standard. Want it now though....

I also noticed there only seems to be classic vibes for squire lefty telecaster models? Is that really the case?

Nope, there's lefties on the Affinity series, too.

I'd recommend the Classic Vibe anyway, IMHO they are in the same level as the MIMs in every aspect. On a budget, I'd just check the second hand guitars, and get either a MIM or a CV, which ever has the nicest color
The Affinities are cheaper constructed, and that shows in quality. Playable, but usually need some fixing.

Sorry for that.
But if I understood you right, you consider reversing your playing from "standard" to lefty because of this..? Before any decisions, check out what Django Reinhardt did after injuring his hand in a fire...

Sorry to hear about your finger loss mate. Not good when you play guitar that's for sure. It's great that you're not going to let that beat you! Commendable even! Did you realize that Toni Iommi (guitarist for Black Sabbath) was an apprentice butcher (and guitarist for Jethro Tull) before they got big and were called "Earth" and just before they were due to record a demo for a record company he chopped off the ends of his middle and ring fingers on his left hand! A total disaster in anyone's book, even if you don't play guitar!
But, after inventing some stumps made from wooden ice-cream sticks (at first) he kept practicing and after a name change to "Black Sabbath" and recording a demo they were given a contract. From what I know (which is limited!), most of that crazy an insanely great playing on Sabbath's 1st album was done mostly with his index and pinky fingers as he was still getting use to the thimbles!!! Every time I listen to early Sabbath I get chills thinking "I still can't play like that with all my fingers!!" -well, maybe now I'm closer but still, it's an amazing story of adaptability for sure.
Maybe you don't have to re-learn everything again left-handed after-all, just a thought.
Good luck anyway!

Thanks for the encouragement and advice! Yeah maybe I'll wait till my wound finally heals up and see how well I can play still. (Still some blood and my finger is kind of really stiff from the tendon being torn out of my finger) :( Stretching my finger like crazy right now. Maybe I'll practice both ways. Who knows? In any case I do need a telecaster at some point and plus if i got got a lefty guitar my friends can stop borrowing my guitars! Mwhaha.(Well, I also want a stratocaster too....) Really like the color options on the Mexico Tele. Thanks again guys.

Depending on whether you go right or left.
Great value and tone second to none...not even the high priced models.

I played a Squier Protone Strat once. Do they make Protone Teles?

If so, worth checking one out.

They did ProTone Telecasters in the late 1990s, including a '69 Thinline and a Fat Telecaster with a humbucker in the neck among others. No longer into production.

"The quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten" is a pontification that applies very much to guitars. For another month or so of saving your money you can get a far superior instrument.

Then there's Jerry Garcia, who could never become a taxi driver with his damage.
And Hound Dog Taylor, with six fingers of which he could use four.
And Django Reinhardt, who damaged his hand so badly in a fire when adult that he in practice could not use two of his fretting hand fingers. Yet he re-learned guitar playing, and became the most famous guitar player of his generation.
