I have a '67 Tele that I bought about 40 years ago in Boulder, CO. I was told it may have belonged to Joe Walsh in his James Gang days. Just curious, have no intention of selling. Have made serious mods over the years and it is not a collector's item anymore. I still do have standing offers if I should ever want to sell!
Thanks!

Sounds like a cool Tele - did you post about this a while back?

Unfortunately Fender only has shipping records by serial number going back to 1993, and even then those records would only tell you the store it was originally shipped to, they wouldn't be able to track further sales (and likely wouldn't provide information on the first owner, assuming the owner actually registered the guitar with Fender).

In 1967 Fender was owned by CBS; the current ownership group bought the company in 1985 and as far as I've read they probably didn't get any old records, and even if they did they would be dusty old hard copy in boxes somewhere (assuming the records weren't purged at some point).

I wish you good luck in the search; you would almost have to go back to the store you bought it at in Boulder (if the store is still open) and see if they have any records of how they obtained the guitar. Then keep working backwards from there.

If it was owned by Joe Walsh, it's probably been heavily tricked out? Got pics?
