I put Gotoh SGL510Z tuners on my acoustic, they are 21:1 ratio and the most amazing tuners I have ever used. I can tune at 8pm, play until midnight, and still be in tune. It is unreal.

The locking tuner thingies on my deluxe telecaster are bugging me, so I want to upgrade to the 21:1 ratio tuners, but I'm not sure if they will even fit, so I'm curious if anybody has tried?

Why do the locking tuners bug you?

A. HEAVEY
B. Lower ratio, super sensitive on certain strings and hard to get perfect in tune
C. Manual lock, all my other guitars have Gotoh HAPM locks, and once you get used to them, everything else just sucks.
D. String angles don't all match, and I'm OCD haha
E. HEAVEY

Other than that, no complaints. They aren't bad tuners by any means, and if I hadn't experienced the 510's, I can't think of anything else that I've seen that would be better honestly.

Having just watched a video of the HAPM tuners and how they function I can see why you like them so much.

There's no reason why they couldn't be made to fit, you might even find that the holes in the headstock will accommodate the Gotohs, but you'll end up having do drill some small screw holes for keeping the tuner in place.

I don't mind drilling small holes for the screws, but I do NOT wanna drill the holes out bigger if they don't fit. Too much to go wrong on such an expensive guitar lol.

I did however have an EPIPHANY this morning. I own guitars with these tuners on them, so next time I do a string change, I can simply pop a few off of each guitar and see if they fit! DUH! Sometimes I seriously overlook the simple answers and solutions and seriously overcomplicate things in life haha.

I'm pretty sure the 21:1, Gotoh 510Z tuners are only available in 3+3 not 6 in line.
